Nana is not part of her name. She is Hugh's nanny.
As I said, she is very emotional. If we leave her for too long, she gets very upset and has a conniption. The duration of which is relative to the length of time left on her own. So, when we were at the hospital for several days, she was left alone for quite some time. I made it home at least once a day to spend a little time with her and collect some things we needed. My brother and sister-in-law stopped by and gave her a little attention, as well as my dad bringing snacks and treats for her. She did not handle it well.
When we brought Hugh home, we approached her very carefully. She had a bit of a fit but was suddenly curious about what was in the car seat. We read also read that you should introduce the baby feet first. She sniffed him all over for a bit and was satisfied. Eventually, it was clear she accepted him.
I mentioned she is a sucker for tummy rubs and scratchins. Well, typically, she will hop on my lap and lay back so I can easily scratch her tummy. Now she will perch on my knee so she can see Hughbert in his swing or crib. That says a lot if she is willing to give up the scratchins.
So, I chose to take this opportunity to put the spotlight on my little buddy so the world can see what a sweetheart she really is. Hugh is going to have a best buddy for a very long time. Good job Chewie. You are awesome. That is why you are an RH Hero.
